About the HMB

In 1999,  the chairs of Prof. Dr. Dieter Ahlert (Chair for Distribution and Retailing), Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Heribert Meffert (Institute of Marketing) and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Klaus Backhaus (Chair for Business-to-Business Marketing) merged to the Marketing Center Münster (MCM). Thereby, one of the most important competence centers for market-oriented management in Germany was created. In 2003, Prof. Dr. Manfred Krafft took over the Institute of Marketing. In 2010, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Hennig-Thurau founded the Chair for Marketing and Media whereas Prof. Dr. Thorsten Wiesel joined with the Institute for Value-Based Marketing in 2012.

With the merger of the three founding chairs also the three libraries were combined in 2000, making the MCM library the largest marketing library throughout Germany. In appreciation of the meanwhile emeritus Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Heribert Meffert, the MCM library was renamed to the Heribert Meffert Library.

Currently, the Heribert Meffert Library holds around 15,700 books and over 100 specialist journals. In addition to a comprehensive repertoire of literature in German language, based on the core competencies of our professional chairs, the Heribert Meffert Library also holds a large number of international books and journals.

We wish you a pleasant and successful time while using the Heribert Meffert Library. Thereby, we are always grateful for your suggestions and criticism.
