Assistant Professor in Marketing at the MCM

Münster School of Business and Economics (MSBE) at the University of Muenster (WWU) has an open position as

Assistant Professor in Marketing (non-tenure track position)

starting on October 1st, 2018.

Applications are invited for an Assistant Professorship position in Marketing. The successful applicant would be part of the Marketing Center team of the Muenster School of Business and Economics.

Assistant Professor (in German: Juniorprofessur W1) is a post that offers an opportunity to qualify for full professorship in the German university system. The appointment is initially for three years with an option of an extension for another three years.

The teaching load is an equivalent of 4 hours per week for the first three years and 5 hours per week thereafter.

Applicants should have a strong interest and expertise in marketing, especially in Digital Transformation. Knowledge of one or more of the following topics is desirable but not mandatory: Customer Management, Pricing, Retailing, Sales Management. It is expected that they demonstrate their ability to conduct top-level research in this area by their dissertation and other research. Applicants should also demonstrate a sound level of knowledge in empirical marketing research and are expected to teach in English; Experience with undergraduate and graduate programs (incl. PhD and executive education) and positive teaching evaluations are desirable.

Prerequisites for employment are a university degree, pedagogical skills and a special qualification for scientific work, which as a rule must be proven by a qualified doctorate.

The application shall be written in English or German and include the following items:

  •  description of the applicant's research and pedagogical qualifications, as well as other qualifications;
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  • complete list of previous scholarly work and PDF versions of the doctoral dissertation and the three “best” articles, regardless of the publication status (in case other authors are involved, the candidate’s unique contribution should be clarified);
  • a plan for future work within the area of the announced position, both scientific and educational, if appointed.
